Patrice Evra is glad Thierry Henry didn't come clean during the match againt Ireland
French defender notes Irish misdemeanours...
France international Patrice Evra has joined the list of fellow countrymen leaping to the defence of Thierry Henry.
The striker is currently shrouded in controversy, following his handball in the build-up to William Gallas's crucial extra-time goal against the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup qualifying playoff.
Manchester United defender Evra has insisted Henry was right at the time not to own up to the infringement, admitting he is glad the Barca star did not turn himself in.
"If Titi (Henry) would have asked to cancel the goal admitting his handball to the referee and we went on to lose, the same people would have talked about his ego, they would say 'he only thought of himself and his image,'" Evra told l'Equipe.
"Frankly, if he had done that I would have told him 'you betrayed us'.
"I came back to Manchester and the Irish players themselves told me during the first leg the referee should have given us a penalty, due to a foul on me.
"But people forget about that. In football, there are always injustices."
