West Ham United maintain that there has been no formal takeover bid for the club.

There had been rumours that David Sullivan, the former Birmingham City owner, was set to make a move but the club has denied this.

A source at the club told Press Association Sport: "There have been no significant developments at all, and no formal offer from any party.

"The club still envisage the sale will be a medium to long-term initiative."
