Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he is not planning a move for Sergio Aguero, ahead of Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Atletico de Madrid.

The Premier League side were linked with a move for the diminutive Argentine forward throughout the summer transfer window, and rumours have continued apace despite a FIFA transfer embargo in light of the club's illegal purchase of youngster Gael Kakuta.

The Blues hope to have the ban suspended after lodging an appeal with CAS (the Court of Arbitration for Sport), but Ancelotti quashed talk of Aguero's purchase even if the appeal proved successful.

He told reporters at a press conference: "For his age, he [Aguero] is one of the most important and best-quality players in the world.

"Aguero is very young, he is a fantastic striker and has a lot of quality."

Despite noting his talent, the Italian coach denied that the 21 year old, or any other player, was on the club's transfer shortlist.

"Every big club are looking at this player, but we are not thinking of buying anyone again at this moment," he declared.
