Slovenia keeper Samir Handanovic has launched a fresh attack on Wayne Rooney.

The Udinese goalkeeper has accused the Manchester United striker of diving to win a penalty during England's 2-1 friendly victory on Saturday, claiming Rooney should have been cautioned for his actions.

Rooney finds himself at the centre of such controversy for the second time in a week, having been accused of going down easily against Arsenal last weekend in the Premier League.

Slovenia skipper Robert Koran has already accused Rooney of "going down a bit too easy", while Handanovic is also distraught teammate Bostjan Cesar, who commited the foul on Rooney, will miss the next qualifier for an injury picked up in the disputed challenge.

"Cesar is not okay," Handanovic told Sky Sports.

"He will not play on Wednesday now and will be out for 10 to 15 days.

"He is very important for us but it makes us angry about the penalty, not the injury.

"Foul? It was a foul for us. In this situation the referee did not do well. He gave it because England is a bigger national team than Slovenia.

"I'm not happy. He is a good player but I did not expect this from a player from a good team with this quality."

Speaking on Rooney's appeals to the referee, he added: "It was wrong for him to do this.

"It was not fair play but this is football. I don't know what we can do about it now."

The Udinese keeper anticipates England might have met their match when Croatia visit Wembley this Wednesday.

"I do think the referee for the Croatia game will be at a higher level," he said.

"Croatia are a very good team and when they play in big games they are very good. England have a good chance of winning but I think it will be a tough game."
