Hodgson hopeful over Townsend fitness for Poland clash

The 22-year-old suffered a knock during England's 4-1 win over Montenegro on Friday but took part in training with the squad on Monday
Roy Hodgson has revealed Andros Townsend is recovering from a knock ahead of England's crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old capped an impressive debut for the national side with a goal in the 4-1 victory over Montenegro on Friday, leaving Hodgson's side requiring a win at Wembley in their final Group H fixture to secure qualification for next summer's World Cup.

Townsend took part in full training with the England squad on Monday and Hodgson is confident over the winger's availability.

"Andros took a slight knock on Friday, but we are hopeful he will be okay for Tuesday night," the England boss told reporters.
