Aguero confirms withdrawal from Argentina squad

The Manchester City star has been struggling with a knee injury and his national team's fitness staff have advised him to miss the upcoming qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has confirmed that he is returning to England after failing to recover from injury while on international duty.

The 24-year-old had originally been named in the squad for Argentina's upcoming World Cup qualifiers at home to Venezuela and a tough trip to face Bolivia in La Paz.

Aguero had been struggling with a knee injury and although he admits that his condition has improved, the team's fitness staff believe he would be better off missing out.

The striker revealed on Twitter: "My knee is better but the squad's physicians would rather have me be safe and stick with the treatments until it's completely healed.

"It's a pity to miss out on the national squad matches but I'll be cheering for Argentina from Manchester, while I finish the recovery."
