The Stromsgodset starlet received the call up from coach Per-Mathias Hogmo for the friendly against United Arab Emirates and could become his nation's youngest player
Norway coach Per-Mathias Hogmo has included the teenager in his squad for a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on August 27.
Odegaard has already represented Norway at under-15, 16 and 17 levels and will now get his chance at full international level.
Born on 17 December 1998, Odegaard plies his trade for Stromsgodset, who finished last season as Tippeligaen runners-up.
He has previously trained with both Manchester United and Bayern Munich and has already scored three goals in 14 league appearances this season.
Odegaard spoke of his delight at being called up, telling Football.no: "This is what I've dreamed about since I was tiny. I have looked up to these players and put the TV on and it is really great to be able to team up with them.
"I am incredibly proud to be able to play with the flag on the chest and represent my country.
“This is huge and incredibly fun and a dream come true. I was shocked, and the message came as a surprise. But I was of course very happy!"
