Brazil captain Thiago Silva has expressed delight at Brazil’s 5-0 victory over South Africa at Soccer City on Wednesday, insisting the team is ready to claim the World Cup in 2014.
The Gillette Brasil Global Tour clash in Johannesburg was Brazil’s last before coach Luiz Felipe Scolari confirms his World Cup squad, which will be announced May 7.
And PSG defender Silva says the result will be a huge confident boost for a group that has come a long since Felipao took charge in November 2012.
“We have ended our preparations well, finishing on a high note,” he said.
[Our form] gives us a lot of confidence, a real morale boost, and lot of peace so that we can relax a little in the next three months before the World Cup.”
“I have no doubts that this groups is absolutely ready to be champions.
"We had a wonderful Confederations Cup. Now we have to rest and play the league championships that we have to play [for our clubs], because we will do everything in our power to win the World Cup.”
