Scolari postpones domestic call-ups for South Africa clash

The CBF have confirmed that Tuesday will see coach Felipao announce only the names of foreign-based players who have made the cut for March’s tie at Soccer City in Johannesburg
The Confederacao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) have announced they will only confirm the names of foreign-based players selected in the Brazil squad for next month's Gillette Brasil Global Tour friendly with South Africa.

The Selecao travel to Johannesburg for the clash at Soccer City on March 5 for what will be Luiz Felipe Scolari's final squad prior to the announcement of the 23 who will compete for the World Cup in Brazil this June.

Following discussions with his assistant Murtosa and technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira, it has been agreed that the domestic-based players who make the cut will be notified closer to the fixture.

“After some observation, we think it would be better to call only players that play outside of Brazil at this time,” Scolari announced on Monday.

“As we are at the beginning of the domestic season, those in Brazil have not yet reached the peak of their fitness. So we will wait a bit before adding them to the list.”

The list of foreign-based players that have made the squad will be released by the CBF at 12 noon local time on Tuesday.
