The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper has ambitions of making the 23-man Azzurri squad next summer and facing the likes of England and Uruguay
The Azzurri were drawn in Group D alongside England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in one of the toughest selections in the Brazil tournament.
Juventus veteran Gianluigi Buffon is expected to be first choice keeper unless he succumbs to injury, but the PSG No.1 hopes that he can secure a place in Cesare Prandelli's squad.
"The hope of going to the World Cup is there," the 26-year-old told Sky Sport 24. "I want to go there and participate with Italy, being a key player in that would be a dream.
"Like everyone else, I experienced the 2006 World Cup win as a fan, but it would be a dream to go to Brazil as a player and I hope that Italy are key players in the tournament."
Sirigu, who missed out on the last World Cup squad, has been a regular fixture in the Azzurri setup since making his debut a little over three years ago, but has been restricted to three caps by Buffon's first-team dominance.
