thumbnail Hello,

The Schalke captain has singled out Roy Hodgson's men as one of the outstanding contenders at next summer's competition and is looking forward to Tuesday's friendly

Germany international Benedikt Howedes believes England are a force to be reckoned with at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

The Three Lions have not made it past the quarter-finals since the 1990 World Cup, yet Howedes feels they are one of the favourites to go all the way next summer.

"England have a good team. They are one of the favourites at the World Cup," Howedes was quoted as saying by Reviersport.

The defender also stressed the friendly between the two old rivals at Wembley Stadium will not be an easy game for Germany.

"The game against England will be a great match," he continued.

"We are really looking forward to playing at Wembley, even though we all realise it won't be easy to play there."

Germany recorded a 4-1 win over England last time they met at the 2010 World Cup.
