Wales call up nine players after withdrawals

Chris Coleman has included Southampton winger Lloyd Isgrove for the first time, as the squad are stripped to the bones by injuries for qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium
Wales manager Chris Coleman has had to call upon nine new players after a series of injuries decimated his squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium.

Eight players, including Real Madrid new-boy Gareth Bale, have withdrawn from the squad after picking up injuries in the last week.

Joining Bale on the sidelines are Adam Matthews, Ben Davies, Danny Gabbidon, Sam Ricketts, Jack Collison, Joe Allen and Joe Ledley.

Owain Tudur Jones, Daniel Alfei, James Wilson, Rhoys Wiggins, Jermaine Easter and Shaun MacDonald have all been recalled to the squad, while Southampton youngster Lloyd Isgrove is in line to make his first appearance for the senior side.

Isgrove, 20, has yet to play for the Saints in the Premier League, but has featured twice in the League Cup.

West Ham defender James Collins has not been included in the squad, though, after an ongoing row with Coleman.

Wales are currently bottom of Group A and face Macedonia on Friday evening and top-placed Belgium on Tuesday with the hope of moving up the rankings.
