England boss Hodgson to appear on 'Match of the Day'

The 66-year-old will offer his views on the BBC's highlights programme ahead of the Three Lions' vital World Cup qualifying fixtures against Montenegro and Poland
England manager Roy Hodgson is to make an appearance on the BBC's 'Match of the Day' on Saturday ahead of October's crucial World Cup 2014 qualifiers.

The 66-year-old will offer his views on a pundit on the day's Premier League matches as well as discussing the final two games of the Three Lions' campaign to reach Brazil.

"We're delighted to have Roy in the studio and it will provide a good opportunity for the England manager to monitor so many of his squad ahead of those crucial World Cup qualifiers," Mark Cole, lead executive of BBC Football, told The Times.

"Roy spoke to Gary [Lineker, the show's host] after the draw in Ukraine and we're delighted to have the two of them together to discuss all of Saturday's action and look ahead to next week's matches.

"With Alan Shearer in the studio as well, we have the experience of 143 international caps and 78 goals, so few are better placed to discuss the weekend's action and the national team with the England manager."

The 66-year-old is preparing to take on Montenegro and Poland on October 11 and 15, with his side only one point ahead of the former and Ukraine with two matches left to play.

Joe Hart – who was scrutinised for his latest error against Bayern Munich – will be on show for Manchester City while Wayne Rooney is also expected to be back in action for Manchester United.
