The in-form Olympique Lyonnais midfielder could make his debut for the national team against Uruguay or Brazil amid doubts over Samir Nasri's fitness
The 22-year-old has scored seven goals this season, with four of them coming in his last eight matches, to stake a claim for a berth in Didier Deschamps' squad.
And, with uncertainties over the fitness of Samir Nasri, Grenier has been given his chance for the upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Brazil.
"Because of doubts on Nasri's health after Manchester City's two games in the United States, Didier Deschamps has called up Clement Grenier," the FFF said in a statement.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Sunday that he was interested in the 22-year-old, comparing him to Nasri, but OL president Jean-Michel Aulas was quick to warn the Gunners of his €37 million (£31.5m) price tag].
Deschamps' men face Uruguay on June 5 and Brazil four days later.
