The Wales talisman only returned to training on Thursday after struggling throughout the week, and is now a doubt ahead of the visit of Croatia for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier
Wales head coach Chris Coleman was upbeat regarding the forward's fitness ahead of the Hampden Park clash, saying he was "optimistic" regarding Bale's ability to play ahead of the game despite the player being handed a ""modified" work-out routine.
Bale joined up with his international team-mates later than the rest of the squad after suffering from a virus, but trained on Thursday, while his ankle required scans on Monday and Tuesday but prompted no alarm.
The 23-year-old, who has scored a combined 25 goals for club and country this season, has suffered a number of niggling injuries this season - with a back injury hampering his pre-season fitness and a hamstring concern striking over the festive period - but has managed 37 appearances domestically and international this term.
Wales welcome the visit of the typically strong Croatia side on Tuesday, with Bale's next Spurs commitments coming with a trip to Swansea on March 30.
