The 23-year-old has been called up following the West Brom midfielder's hamstring concern, the fourth player to withdraw from Gordan Strachan's first competitive squad as manager
Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan has been called up to the Scotland squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers with Wales and Serbia following West Brom's James Morrison withdrawal with a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old has 11 caps for his country but has not featured since the 5-1 friendly defeat to United Stadium in May, 2012.
Morrison has become the fourth withdrawal from Gordan Strachan’s first competitive squad after Leeds United’s Ross McCormack, Celtic’s James Forrest and Southampton’s Danny Fox dropped out on Monday.
Norwich City defender Steven Whittaker was called upon in response but further replacements were not expected following Morrison's withdrawal - with Charlie Adam, Graham Dorrans, James McArthur and Liam Bridcutt already available to Strachan.
Scotland currently sit bottom of World Cup Qualification Group A with just two points from four games, drawing 0-0 with Serbia and losing 2-1 to Wales earlier in qualification.
