O'Connor, a one-club man who has represented his side since 2000, is the club's nominated penalty taker but, when they were handed a 95th-minute spot kick that could have secured promotion if scored, Fulham loanee Marcello Trotta was so adamant that he should take it that the veteran right-back stood aside.

Now, just as the dust was beginning to settle on the affair and Uwe Rosler's team started to switch their focus to their upcoming play-off tie with Swindon Town, O'Connor's wife, Penny, took to Twitter to lay into the young Italian striker.
"Kev tried to take the ball, what was he supposed to do, fight him for it! Kev was the better man, Trotta shld have had some respect #fact," she fumed.
Whether or not Mrs O'Connor had a point, both the tweet and her account have since disappeared from Twitter, with Brentford clearly annoyed about the incident being made even more painful than it already was.
Manager Rosler has tried to douse any discontent that anyone might have with Trotta by blaming the whole team for missing the penalty but, clearly, not everyone sees it quite that way. The youngster may soon be glad to return to his parent club at the season's end...
