Luis Suarez again hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons on Tuesday, having clashed with Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini as Uruguay defeated Cesare Prandelli's side to advance to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Chiellini was infuriated - complaining to the referee that he was bitten - and many stars, including Rio Ferdinand and Evander Holyfield, took to Twitter to express their shock at the clash.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge thanked the England fans for their support after the Three Lions drew 0-0 with Costa Rica, with Mesut Ozil left shocked by the elimination of the Azzurri.

Elsewhere, Javier Mascherano wished Lionel Messi a happy birthday, with the Argentina and Barcelona megastar turning 27 on Tuesday.
