Lionel Messi's heroics for Argentina has put his side top Group F - and earned him an admirer.

The 26-year-old curled a last-minute winner past Iran to continue his side's winning record in the World Cup, catching the eye of singer Rihanna in the process.

Mario Gotze put Germany ahead during their clash with Ghana but a quick reply from Andre Ayew was soon followed up by Asamoah Gyan as the Black Stars took the lead for the first time.

Yet Miroslav Klose, one goal shy from equalling Ronaldo's 15-goal World Cup record, still had another in him - despite turning 36 at the start of the month. On from the bench, he duly scored to equalise, not that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti - who was otherwise occupied - would know.

Following Thursday's defeat to Uruguay, England's Daniel Sturridge remains disheartened at their early elimination from the group stages but vowed to ensure it is not a feeling he repeats in the future.

Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo is seeing double as he prepares for their clash with USA on Sunday.
