Praise came from all corners for Gareth Bale, who picked up the trophies, while there were also plenty of players pleased to be included in the Team of the YearTottenham midfielder Gareth Bale picked up the PFA Player of the Year award for the second time in his career, but also managed to add the trophy for Young Player of the Year on Sunday night - not bad, eh?
Understandably, the world of football was quick to praise the Wales international on a fantastic season, with the Team of the Year also garnering some interest on Twitter.
So, let's take a look at the players winning, reacting and hashtagging in the latest edition of Word on the Tweet...
"Congrats to gareth bale on winning both awards tonight. I think. Van persie or suarez should of won it though."
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney (pictured) couldn't vote for his team-mate, but did he tick the box for Liverpool rival Luis Suarez? Interesting...
"I'm very proud to have won two PFA awards and make the team of the year..."
Not a bad evening for Gareth Bale, all things told. Maybe time to reinforce the mantelpiece.
"When it's your fellow pros who vote for the awards, it makes them feel that extra bit more special. Thanks for all the kind tweets!"
Bale then thanks everyone for the messages he received. What a nice guy, eh?
"Congratulations to Gaz Bale. Great guy...well deserved."
Brad Friedel congratulates his Tottenham team-mate - the Welshman may be the Player of the Year, but he can't escape a typically unimaginative footballer nickname.
"Congratulations @GarethBale11 on winning both young and old PFA player of the year awards. A superb achievement for a wonderful talent."
Gary Lineker sends his message of congratulation directly to the wing wizard (note - he no longer plays on the wing).
"Superb achievement for Gareth bale to win both awards"
Norwich winger Robert Snodgrass congratulates Bale. WOTT will bet he just doesn't want the Wales international banging in any more goals against Scotland.
"Truly humbled to be included within the @PFA Team Of The Year. It's an honour to play and be named alongside such great players. Thanks."
Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta is the only member of Roberto Mancini's team to make the list.
"Me and @d_degea going home after the PFA awards! Congrats to Bale on winning both player of the year awards! "
Rio Ferdinand grabs a lift home with United keeper David de Gea. Aww.
"@rioferdy5 Well done in PFA team amigo! #20 "
De Gea keeps up appearances by tweeting the man he's sitting directly next to.
"Buzzing de gea was in team of year. Yes david well deserved"
A season spent battering shots at his in-form team-mate in training must have frustrated Rooney something rotten.
