Word on the Tweet: Bale beaming after winning Player of the Month award

Elsewhere, there's praise for fellow Welshman Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand stuns the world with one of his 'Rio Facts' and Christopher Samba does his best Rafael Benitez impression
Most of us are used to Gareth Bale's weekly exploits and the Tottenham midfield maestro just keeps on delivering after picking up the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award.

Another Welshman to draw praise is Ryan Giggs, on the verge of his 1,000th career game, while Rio Ferdinand and Edwin van der Sar continue the Manchester United theme and Josh McEachran celebrates his birthday.

There's all that and more in Friday's Word on the Tweet, so let's get cracking...

"Very honoured to be the Barclays Player of the Month. With the manager getting an award too it's been a great month for Spurs #teamgame"
You can almost see the smile on the face of Tottenham's Gareth Bale as the Welshman celebrates his Player of the Month award - and with a touch of modesty, too. Superb stuff.

"'@RonnieIrani1: Is Ryan Giggs the best footballer ever to play for Manchester United?' Not just man utd but the premiership too!!!"
With news that Ryan Giggs (otherwise known simply as Superman) has extended his Manchester United contract once more, former team-mate Phil Neville has only the highest of praise.

"Todays #RioFact :- dreamt is the only English word that ends with the letters 'mt'....ooooff!"
Well I never. Rio Ferdinand (pictured) is.... correct. And WOTT is... stunned.

"Like to say to all supporters who come sat even if we go 1down don't boo or put us down stay behind us till the 90mins end,it's all teamwork"
QPR defender Christopher Samba has a touch of Rafael Benitez about him as he pleads for a co-existence with the Hoops faithful. All very good, Christopher, but you could further perfect you Rafa impression with the words "quality, character and facts" and the Spaniard's newest addition "you are wastin' time."

"Not sure if I am the right guy for a job in the office as today is the fourth time I am struck with a flu in 3 months!! #backtothepitch"
Ajax coach Edwin van der Sar reveals how he's been coping since he hung up his goalkeeper's gloves. 'Not well' would be the jist of it.

"Haircut time @VaVaGroom ! #fresh #flamey"
Nothing gets you motivated for a relegation scrap like a a good haircut, it seems, so Aston Villa's Andreas Weimann has gone for just that option.

"Can't believe my little girl is one year old today! Time flys when your having fun. Happy birthday Isla rose campbell"
I won't go all teary-eyed, I won't! But this from Cardiff striker Fraizer Campbell proves that footballers can enjoy sweet, happy lives with their families - contrary to their reputations.

"Just read Kev Mac has got the Swindon job is this true. If he has that's quality, top bloke and be a great manager for them."
WOTT can indeed confirm that Kevin MacDonald has been named Swindown Town's new manager. West Brom's Liam Ridgewell is clearly impressed.

"It's my BIRTHDAYYYYYY!!! 20 today!"
Happy birthday Josh McEachran. Maybe Middlesbrough can enter the play-offs as a present to the young midfielder!

""People I am proud to say my daughter Taliyah-Belle Kazim-Richards was born today at 11.44am healthy!! 1.3.13 !!"
Blackburn Rovers forward Colin Kazim-Richards is on cloud nine after the birth of his baby daughter. WOTT has nothing but congratulations for you Col! :)
