AC Milan defender Thiago Silva’s strike not only put his side on course for their resounding 4-0 victory over Chievo, but it opened the floodgates among the voters as well.

Receiving possession on the right flank from Kevin-Prince Boateng, the Brazilian placed the ball past Stefano Sorrentino from all of 25 yards to send the home faithful into raptures, and become the runaway leader of our poll.

Thiago Silva received unanimous praise from readers of Goal.com’s International, German and UK editions, along with Goal Show viewers, topping the list with a staggering 82.8 per cent.

Elroy Cohen led the trailing pack, picking up 6.0% following his effort in the Tel-Aviv derby, while Denis Glushakov’s goal for Lokomotiv Moscow against Zenit St Petersburg received 4.5% of the vote.

Stay tuned for your chance to vote for this week’s Goal of the Week.
