thumbnail Hello,

The Atletico Madrid striker has a decision to make after the Selecao named him in their squad, while he also mulls over the possibility of instead representing Spain

Diego Costa has been called up to the Brazil national team as he attempts to make a decision regarding his international future.

The Brazilian-born striker has previously expressed his desire to play for his adopted country, Spain, with Selecao coach Luiz Felipe Scolari prompting him to make a decision.

The 25-year-old made two appearances for his native country in friendlies against Italy and Russia in March, but Fifa granted the Spanish Football Federation permission to call up Costa after he was granted Spanish nationality during the summer.

Brazil will participate in two friendlies in North America in November, and Scolari has stayed true to his word, calling up the striker with the hope that it swings the decision process in his favour.

Costa has spent the past five seasons playing domestic football in Spain, and has scored 10 goals in nine La Liga games for Atletico Madrid this season, while adding two in his only Champions League appearance.

Along with Costa, the CBF also announced Dani Alves, Hulk, Lucas Leiva and Marquinhos will be travelling with the Selecao on their tour.

Brazil will take on Honduras at Sun Life Stadium in New Jersey, USA on November 16, before facing Chile three days later at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada.
