Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson has indicated that he will use the game as a chance to take a look at some of the country's most gifted youngsters including the Reds starlet, Tottenham defender Steven Caulker and Manchester United pair Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
Sterling had previously been an unused member of the senior squad for their World Cup 2014 qualifier against Ukraine but returned to the Under-21s side to help them confirm their participation in Euro 2013.

"We allowed him to go with the Under-21s last time when we might well have taken him into our squad had they not had such an important game.
"I'd like to think Chris Smalling will come into the squad, too, and the same applies to Phil Jones.
"I hope Smalling and Jones - and Steven Caulker if you want a third one - can start to put a few people under pressure."
Hodgson also revealed that he will be getting out and about to Premier League clubs in the period leading up to England's next qualifying games.
"I'll try to get round to the clubs and speak to the managers," he added. "I want to get to the clubs' training grounds and keep that contact going with the players."
