The AC Milan striker is confident that the 19-year-old has the potential to be an excellent player but stressed that he must be looked after through his development

Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that Feyenoord striker John Guidetti has a bright future ahead of him and insists that his talent must be nurtured.

The 19-year-old has been a key player for the Rotterdam club since joining on loan from Manchester City last summer, scoring 18 goals in 16 Eredivisie matches so far this season.

The young forward is expected to make his debut for the senior Sweden national team against Croatia on Wednesday, partnering Ibrahimovic up front.

Guidetti is 11/4 to score a debut goal anytime against Croatia with William Hill.

The AC Milan striker had some kind words for his compatriot, saying that, although Guidetti still has a lot to learn, he is confident that the teenager has the potential to go far in the game.

“We need to treat this talent with great care,” Ibrahimovic told AD Sportwereld. "He is still young, but his actions show that he is already very good.

“Give him time, he has a bright future. Although he will also have to overcome adversity at some point in his career.”

Sweden coach Erik Hamren agreed with the 30-year-old, reiterating that the youngster must be handled carefully.

“We must ensure that we do not immediately impose too much pressure on this 19-year-old boy.” Hamren said.
