Fulham striker Bobby Zamora desperate to stay in England fold
Forward unlucky not to grab debut goal...
By Matt Monaghan
Zamora, 29, impressed as a second half substitute in the 2-1 victory against Hungary. After an Achilles injury kept him out of the reckoning for the World Cup 2010 squad, only two excellent saves stopped the centre forward from making an instant impact.
Speaking after the game, Zamora hoped he had done enough to stay in manager Fabio Capello's plans.
He said: "I was slightly unlucky not to get a goal, the keeper pulled off a couple of great saves.
"I hoped to round my debut off with a goal but it wasn't to be. I was quite pleased with it though.
"I want to stay in the squad now, definitely.
"We have some great strikers and it will be very tough to get in that squad. All I can do is score goals for Fulham. If I do that then hopefully I'll be included."
