The former Chelsea man took too long to reach a decision over an offer from the Canadian side, who went on to sign Alessandro Nesta instead
Former Germany international Michael Ballack is reportedly considering offers from clubs in China and the United Arab Emirates after missing out on a move to North America.
Now a free agent after his contract with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen expired earlier this summer, the 35-year-old apparently stalled on signing a $5 million (£3.2m) deal with Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact.
According to British publication The Express, Ballack was postponing signing the contract in favour of considering other offers from sides based in major American cities such as Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
Such interest never materialised, and the former Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen star soon found himself at a loose end when Montreal used their allocated funds to bring in veteran stopper Alessandro Nesta instead.
Offers from the Middle and Far East now present themselves for consideration, but it is understood that such a move may not interest the central midfielder, who may yet opt to hand up his boots.
