Stankovic denies interest in MLS move

The 33-year-old midfielder had some injury problems over the past year and is no longer first choice for the Nerazzurri but he has no intention of leaving San Siro
Inter veteran Dejan Stankovic has dismissed reports linking him with a move to MLS, insisting he fully intends to see out the remaining two years of his contract with the club.

The former Serbia international only made 19 Serie A appearances before seeing his season ended by an Achilles problem and it has been suggested that he could be part of a summer exodus from San Siro.

However, Stankovic has claimed that he has been assured by new coach Andrea Stramaccioni that he still has a future with the Serie A giants.

“I’ve read that I’m apparently thinking of a move to America, but there is no truth in it,” the midfielder told Sportska Centrala.

“I have a contract at Inter for another two years and I’ll certainly remain. I’ve spoken to boss Andrea Stramaccioni and we are on the same wavelength.”

The 33-year-old Stankovic joined the Nerazzurri from Lazio in 2004 and was a key member of the side which won the treble two years ago.
