Adidas pushing Michael Ballack towards MLS move - report
The former Germany captain is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season and has already admitted that he would be interested in moving abroad once more
By Mark Doyle
Adidas executives are reportedly hoping to persuade Michael Ballack to move to MLS next summer to replace David Beckham as the face of their brand in the United States.
With Beckham expected to leave the LA Galaxy and return to Europe to link up with Paris Saint-Germain, the sports manufacturer is already looking for a new figurehead.
Ballack is the preferred candidate to fill the void left by the former England captain, according to Express.
The 35-year-old German is currently plying his trade with Bayer Leverkusen but his contract with the Bundesliga outfit expires at the end of the season and he recently admitted that he is open to the idea of continuing his career overseas.
Ballack’s only previous stint overseas came at Chelsea, for whom he made over 160 appearances during a four-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
