The west London club came from behind in Washington against the Serie A outfit as goals from Frank Lampard and Romelu Lukaku cancelled out Erik Lamela's early effort.

The result gave Chelsea six wins out of seven from their warm-up fixtures as they concluded their pre-season preparations ahead of the Premier League opener against Hull on August 18, and Faria believes they are in good shape heading into the new season.

"The match was against a good, organised team, and a team that wanted a result, so it was a very good game for us," the Portuguese told the club's official website.

"In the end, winning is not the most important thing in these matches but it's always good to win because of the identity and personality we want to create in the team.

"The most important thing was the way we secured the result."
