thumbnail Hello,

The 22-year-old has scored three times in pre-season and is determined to carry that goalscoring form into the new season, starting with an opening day trip to Arsenal

Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann wants to take his current goalscoring form into the new Premier League season.

The 22-year-old has been an asset to Paul Lambert's side since joining in 2010 and was integral to the club staying up last term, scoring seven goals in 30 Premier League appearances.

However, the young Austria international is keen to improve and he believes a solid pre-season campaign has put him in great stead to do so.

"It has been really tough the last few weeks but we’ve got just over a week to go and I think everyone is looking forward to that," he told the club's official website.

"You need games to get fit and we’ve had quite a few – eight games we’ve played so far – so obviously that has been really helpful for us.

"It is always nice to get a few goals, even if it is just pre-season. I’ve scored three so far so we’ll see how it goes.

"I think I can score different types of goals, so hopefully I can do that in the season as well."

Villa face Malaga on Saturday before commencing their Premier League campaign against Arsenal a week later.
