thumbnail Hello,

The Villains had to come back from behind on two occasions against the League Two outfit but Christian Benteke did not play a part after signing a new contract on Friday

Aston Villa continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 draw at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

It marks the fourth draw in as many pre-season games for the Premier League side but only after being saved from defeat against the League Two outfit by a 52nd-minute equaliser from Ashley Westwood.

The home side held their own in the clash which saw Aston Villa showcase several new signings but there was no appearance from Christian Benteke, who signed a contract extension on Friday.

The action at Adams Park saw Wycombe go ahead after just 11 minutes as Brad Guzan was caught unaware by a shot from the right from Martin McCoy

Paul Lambert's side did not stay behind for long, however, with Matt Lowton heading home a cross from Leandro Bacuna 13 minutes later.

But the visitors entered half-time one goal adrift as Leon Johnson restored Wycombe's lead just before the break.

The second half saw Aston Villa begin to fight back after making a number of substitutions and a low curling free-kick from Westwood meant Lambert's side would share the spoils in an entertaining encounter.

Villa will now head to Luton Town for their next pre-season friendly on Tuesday.
