TEAM NEWS: Fernandinho starts for Manchester City in Pellegrini debut

The former Malaga manager has announced a strong starting XI as he begins the team's string of pre-season fixtures with a clash against South African side Supersport United
Manuel Pellegrini has named a strong starting XI for his first game in charge of Manchester City as they take on Supersport United on Sunday afternoon.

The former Malaga manager has opted for an experienced back four, with Micah Richards and Aleksander Kolarov both getting a valuable pre-season run-out.

In midfield Fernandinho makes his first start for the club following his £30 million transfer from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Brazillian is accompanied by Gareth Barry, Denis Suarez, Samir Nasri, and Abdul Razak, who spent three months on loan at Charlton Athletic last season. Jesus Navas and David Silva are absent following their particitpation in the Confederation Cup.

The Chilean manager has decided to field Edin Dzeko as a lone striker, following his words of support for the Bosnian, and he is supported by an attack-minded midfield.
