thumbnail Hello,

Drenthe came close to seriously harming Juninho...

Real Madrid played out an entertaining pre-season friendly against LA Galaxy on Saturday night, but the game was marred by a horrendous challenge by Royston Drenthe.

An estimated 85,000 fans were in attendance to see the MLS side take a 2-0 lead at the break, with Gonzalo Higuain inspiring a 3-2 comeback for the Spanish giants with a brace in the second half.

One of the talking points of the game though came in the final minute of the first-half. LA Galaxy had just taken the lead when a cross came into the box towards Juninho.

The always combative Royston Drenthe, looking to impress Jose Mourinho to ensure a move to play regularly this summer, attempted to stop the ball arriving to the LA Galaxy midfielder.

The Dutchman though simply managed to imitate the now infamous Nigel De Jong "kung fu" tackle on Xabi Alonso in the World Cup 2010 final.

Royston Drenthe's Kung Fu kick on Juninho is on the video below.

The consolation for Juninho was that he earned his side a penalty and Landon Donovan put the Galaxy 2-0 up.
