Stoke City's pre-season tour continued with a rampant win over non-league Newcastle Town at the Lyme Valley Stadium.
A second half hat-trick from Turkish international Tuncay as well as goals from Robert Huth, Ricardo Fuller and Michael Tongue secured victory for the Potters in what was the 29th game between the two sides.
Tony Pulis named a strong side from the outset and the visitors started the brightest with Matthew Etherington and Mamady Sidibe going close early on.
Newcastle Town’s defence continued to be put under heavy pressure, and they were finally undone when German Robert Huth rose highest to meet Dean Whitehead's corner and planted his header into the back of the net.
City continued to enjoy the majority of possession and should have increased their lead before the end of the half through Dean Whitehead and Ricardo Fuller who both wasted good chances.
Surprisingly Pulis didn’t make any changes during the half-time break, but when he did they proved to have an immediate impact, especially the introduction of Tuncay.
Fuller made it two nil after connecting with a powerful header via Liam Lawrence’s cross. Tuncay then calmly finished to stroke the ball home to make it three .
Number four soon followed as Tonge netted with a fine curling show into the bottom corner.
The 3,360 in attendance didn’t have to wait long for the fourth as Tuncay netted with another low strike before sealing his hat-trick with a classy finish in the box two minutes from time.
A fourth was soon on the agenda for the goal happy Potters as Tonge turned from provider to finisher by sublimely curling the ball into the bottom corner after latching on to Lawrence's cute through ball.
Attentions now turn to Tuesday night's encounter against Championship side Derby County as the players continue to build up their fitness ahead of that eagerly anticipated season opener against Wolves in three weeks time.
