Seasiders win overshadowed by injury to striker...
Ladysmead Stadium, Tiverton, Devon
Kick-Off 19:30 BST
Blackpool striker Billy Clarke limped off the field after only two minutes during their 2-0 win against Tiverton Town in Friday's testimonial for Martyn Rogers.
The Seasiders got their first win after being promoted to the Premier League courtesy of a Gary Taylor-Fletcher deflected goal and a controversial second by defender Rob Edwards.
The Tivvy’s were celebrating the managerial career of former gaffer Rogers at the Ladysmead Stadium but the team were unable to secure victory despite putting on a decent showing against a strong Blackpool side.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway selected nine players from the team that lined up against Cardiff City in the Championship play-off final at Wembley against the Southern League side, with the likes of Taylor-Fletcher, Charlie Adam and David Vaughan all selected.
The Seasiders didn’t have the best start, however, as Billy Clarke was forced to leave the field with a knee injury and he was replaced by Ishmel Demontagnac.
The first goal of the match came in the first half from a shot from the edge of the area by Demontagnac which was deflected up and into the net by Taylor-Fletcher after good initial work on the left by Stephen Crainey.
Rod Edwards made it 2-0 and secured the victory for 'Pool after 70 minutes with a header that was, perhaps somewhat controversially, ruled to have crossed the line following Demontagnac’s corner.
Blackpool starting XI: Gilks, Eardley, Baptiste, Evatt, Crainey, Southern, Vaughan, Adam, Taylor-Fletcher, Clarke, Ormerod.
