Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart cuts short holiday to stake a claim for No 1 spot - report
Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is believed to have cut short his holiday to push his claim to become the first-choice shot-stopper for the Eastlands club.
The 23-year-old was out on loan with Birmingham City last season, and put in performances worthy of a call-up into the England squad for the 2010 World Cup.
Having finished the campaign in South Africa, Hart and fellow England international Gareth Barry were reported to have been given time off until the New York leg of the club's tour of the United States.
However, The Daily Mail reports that the young 'keeper has instead cut short his holiday to return to prove his worth to manager Roberto Mancini, as current first-choice Shay Given is expected to miss the start of the season through injury.
It has also been speculated that Three Lions boss Fabio Capello could give Hart the opportunity to become the national team's No.1 for Euro 2012.
