The Ivory Coast international was in in devastating form to help Manchester City win the Premier League title last season, scoring 20 league goals and picking up 23.1 per cent of the vote.
Toure edged out Aaron Ramsey, who finished in second place with 17.4% after an exceptional season for Arsenal that was cruelly curtailed by injury - though he returned just in time to help the Gunners to FA Cup glory.
Angel Di Maria was the next highest in the poll with 13.1% after an excellent campaign for Real Madrid which saw the Argentine help los Blancos claim Copa del Rey and Champions League victories.
Arturo Vidal picked up 11.7% of votes to claim fourth spot, having helped Juventus to a third consecutive Serie A title, and Luka Modric rounded off the top five with 9.1% of readers' votes.
