The former West Germany international insists he is not underestimating the Gunners but is simply pointing out that the Bavarians, even at 90 per cent, will progress comfortably

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Paul Breitner believes Arsenal will be no problem for the Champions League holders when the two sides meet in the last 16 of the competition.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola and utility man Philipp Lahm have both praised the Gunners ahead of Wednesday's first leg at the Emirates Stadium, but Breitner is adamant that the Bundesliga side are overwhelming favourites.

"We have a team who are clearly better than Arsenal. If Bayern are playing at 90 per cent, Arsenal will not be a stumbling block," he told Welt.

"Since I'm at Bayern, I'm not interested in Arsenal or Barcelona. We are only interested in bringing our own strengths to the pitch.

"In normal form, Bayern are the best team out there. But that doesn't mean we are underestimating Arsenal."

Breitner, who works as an advisor to the Bayern board, also believes that the Bavarians will be able to cope with the absence of injured winger Franck Ribery due to the quality at Guardiola's disposal.

"We don't only have the best team in the world, we also have the best squad in the world," he added.

"Almost every player can be replaced. Only Neuer, Ribery and Lahm are irreplaceable. We have so many option, especially in attack, so there are many solutions to offset the loss of Ribery."
