The Galatasaray striker has vowed to rediscover the fine form of 2012-13 which earned him a place on the prestigious Goal 50 list.
The Galatasaray striker was voted the 20th best player in the world for his exploits during the 2012-13 campaign after scoring an impressive 32 goals in just 39 games following a summer switch from Trabzonspor.
The Turkish international was also voted as last season's Champions League Player of the Group Stage to help earn himself a place alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the 50 best players in world football.
And after receiving his accolade from Goal, the 28-year-old insisted he was keen to repeat the feat.
"I'm thankful to everyone who deems me worthy of this award," Yilmaz told Goal.
"I hope in the New Year I'll continue to be on these kind of important lists and have my name alongside the best players in the world."
Yilmaz has so far failed to reach the heights of his debut season at the Turk Telecom Arena, having found the net just ten times in 21 appearances.
However the Turkish champions have once again progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea lying ahead in the round of 16, and if Yilmaz can help slay the Premier League giants then he may well be back in the reckoning for another Goal 50 nomination.
