thumbnail Hello,

The former Netherlands striker has taken time to praise La Roja following their Euro 2012 victory, and feels they deserve to be ranked as one of the greatest sides of all time

Ruud Gullit does not believe that Spain possess any weaknesses, and acknowledged the European and world champions as one of the best teams ever.

The Dutchman also admitted that Vicente del Bosque's La Roja side are better than the Netherlands squad he played for, and added that the newly-crowned Euro 2012 champions will remain a footballing force for years to come.

"Do Spain have any weaknesses? I don’t think so," Gullit wrote in his column for Daily Mirror. "The only weakness you can have when you are such a great side is a lack of hunger and that doesn’t seem to be a problem. Now Spain will focus on winning another World Cup, on extending their record. They are not going away in a hurry.

"If you dominate so well over such a long period like Spain have and Brazil did, you have to be ranked as the best. Brazil won three World Cups between 1958 and 1970 and now Spain have two European Championships and a World Cup.

"It is that longevity of success that makes Vicente del Bosque’s team far better than the Netherlands team I played for in 1988. Yes, we won the European Championship but that was just one tournament and they have dominated three [tournaments] in a row. That is exceptional."

Spain will resume competitive action on September 11 in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Georgia.
