thumbnail Hello,

After the Oranje's disappointing campaign at Euro 2012, pressure is mounting on Bert van Marwijk, but the Feyenoord trainer has rejected claims he will be offered the role

Ronald Koeman has said that he will not be the new coach of the Netherlands national team following uncertainty surrounding current boss Bert van Marwijk.

Oranje finished bottom of Group B at Euro 2012 without a point having lost all three of their games, leading to widespread speculation that Van Marwijk will be relieved of his position. Feyenoord coach Koeman has been linked with the job, but said after his club side’s first training session of pre-season that he was not in the running.

"I'd already expected this question," he told reporters.

“Of course, it's nice that people call your name, but I am and will stay the coach of Feyenoord."

Koeman was also critical of the Dutch effort at Euro 2012, as they crashed out having scored just two goals in their three matches.

"This tournament was painful for everybody, so also for me," he added.

“There wasn't a group in the squad that really wanted to work together. It still surprised me that our country apparently has problems creating a team spirit."

Koeman won 78 caps for Netherlands in his career, scoring 14 goals playing as both a defender and a midfielder. He was also part of the victorious Dutch side at Euro 88, who won the tournament thanks to a 2-0 win over Soviet Union in the final.

The Dutch FA is expected to make a decision on Van Marwijk's future by July 6.
