The Chelsea wide-man admitted that the team's defeat in their last group match was "shocking", but believes the game against La Roja is a perfect chance to start a new run

France winger Florent Malouda has called on the team to begin a fresh unbeaten streak ahead of Saturday's Euro 2012 quarter-final clash against Spain.

Les Bleus suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat to Sweden in their final Group D match, a result which saw them drop to second place in their section following England's 1-0 victory over Ukraine.

It also ended France's 23-game unbeaten run, and Malouda has now urged the team to bounce back against the European and world champions in their last-eight showdown.

"I think every player knows that we do not need anyone to come and tell us it [defeat to Sweden] was a shocking result," Malouda told reporters at a press conference.

"I think it was very disappointing, from the players' point of view.

"The question is, how do we start another run? It is better to end that run against Sweden and start a new one against Spain and then win the tournament."

France's encounter with Spain in Donetsk on Saturday kicks off at 20:45CET. Portugal await the winner in the semi-finals.
