thumbnail Hello,

The former Real Madrid striker has said that he hopes that his native country and the World Champions meet in the tournament decider

Legendary Croatia striker Davor Suker has said that he hopes that his country meet current holders Spain in the Euro 2012 final, ahead of the two nations' Group C encounter on Monday.

Slaven Bilic's men lock horns with the world champions in Gdansk, with the winner sure to top the group and secure a quarter-final place.

Suker scored a record 45 goals in 69 games for Croatia, most notably clinching the Golden Boot in the 1998 World Cup as the newly independent country took a shock bronze medal.

And the man tipped by many to become a future president of the Croatian FA, gave his thoughts on who he wants his country to face at the current European Championship.

"Those [Croatia & Spain] are my two favourite countries. I would love Croatia to win this [match against Spain on Monday]," the former Real Madrid and Arsenal striker told El Confidencial.

"I love Spain as a country and as a team. I'm certain that we'll have our chances, and at the end advance from this group."

Should the match finish in a 2-2 draw, both teams will qualify, and eliminate Italy, irrespective of the result the Azzurri gain against Ireland, but Suker played down the chances of that happening.

"2-2? I don't think that's going to happen. Both teams want to win," he added.

Monday's Group C decider kicks off at 20:45CET.
