The 42-year-old coach affirmed that he is looking for a victory in Saturday's contest and spoke of the importance of the team improving their game for the EurosPortugal head coach Paulo Bento has declared that his side will take an attacking approach to their Euro 2012 opener against Germany.
The Seleccao are looking to pick themselves up against Joachim Low's men as they head into Saturday's match on the back of a three-game winless streak following the 3-1 defeat against Turkey at the weekend.
However, Bento said that he is not scared of Germany and noted that he will try to secure a victory against the Mannschaft.
"We must be organised to defeat Germany," he told Uefa.com. "We will also need courage, but if we only think about defending we will surely not get a good result.
"We must attack, but in an organised way. Above all we have to be strong, aggressive and cohesive, especially when we lose the ball."
The 42-year-old coach then called on the team to make some improvements after the poor display against Turkey, but he still took positives from the friendly against Abdullah Avci's side.
"Against Turkey we had a big dose of misfortune because we did things well − we played a match of great quality, both in attacking and defensive terms, but were punished for the mistakes we made," Bento explained.
"What we did would normally have been enough to win. We should try to improve as much as possible on the things we did against them.
"We lost 3-1, but we should not just hold on to that result. We should analyse the match and all that we did in it."
Questioned about Cristiano Ronaldo's influence on the Seleccao's chances in Poland and Ukraine, Bento disputed the notion that he is obsessed with bringing out the best of the Real Madrid star.
"Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world," he said. "He will be remembered as one of the best players of all time, not just in Portuguese terms.
"Can he be the star of the tournament? Firstly, we are aiming for Portugal to be a great team, a strong collective, and then we can focus on individuals.
"It is very difficult to be a star without having collective quality behind him."
