Prandelli: Cassano wants to return in time for Euro 2012

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has stated that Antonio Cassano hopes to be match fit in time for the European Championship.

The 29-year-old striker has been out of action since undergoing surgery heart surgery in November after suffering a stroke on the club's flight back from a match in Rome.

Cassano visited Italy's camp ahead of Wednesday's friendly against the United States and Prandelli says that the AC Milan striker is working hard to regain full fitness.

"Antonio came to see us and he passed on to us all his excitement," Prandelli told reporters. "He wants to be ready for the Euros, he is very determined.

"The three months left for the Euros may or may not be enough."

Prandelli went on to state that he is concerned about injuries as Milan and Juventus battle for the Scudetto.

"I have only one concern: that such a close title race will see some of my players sustain injuries," he continued.

"I do not believe that such an intense tug-of-war for the Scudetto will cause problems in the national team.

"I know the players and I know that in situations like this, they will have a full tank, come June."
