Bruno Alves: Portugal have the quality to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina

The towering defender has voiced his opinion that he and his team-mates have what it takes to qualify for Euro 2012 and has urged the fans to get behind the team

Zenit St Petersburg defender Bruno Alves is confident that Portugal have what it takes to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tuesday's Euro 2012 play-off.

The Portuguese were held to a scoreless draw in Zenica last Friday, but Alves has insisted that they have the quality to win the home leg and book their ticket for next year's European Championship.

"We are prepared for every scenario, we don't want to concede and we want to score. That is our main goal: to win. It will be difficult but our team have enough quality to go through," Alves was quoted as saying on the official Uefa website.

"We are expecting them to play a similar game to the one they did [in the first leg], playing on the counter-attack but perhaps with more circulation of the ball. They defend well and make good transitions."

The centre-back then went on to encourage the Portugal fans to show their support during Tuesday's decisive game.

He added: "I ask everyone to come and help to create a difficult atmosphere for them, just like they did for us. We will certainly feel that support."
