But injury may keep the striker out of Euro 2012 qualifier

Roma’s Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic is looking forward to facing England at Wembley in the Euro 2012 qualifying match on Tuesday so he can show England’s top clubs exactly what he can do.

The striker has scored 11 goals in 21 games since his country gained independence from Serbia and created their own national football team, and in recent months he has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Wembley will be the perfect venue for Vucinic to showcase his talents, and the striker admits he is flattered by the interest being shown in him.

“I am very happy there is a lot of interest from the Premier League,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I hope to do my best [against England] and have a great game. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world, I just have to keep playing my football in the best possible manner.”

But Vucinic may miss out on his opportunity after not taking part in training on Monday night due to a hamstring injury.

The striker is now a doubt to start for Zlatko Kranjcar’s side against England. And if he is missing from the starting line-up he believes his team-mates can pull together and pull off a surprise victory.

“As a group, we are a unified bunch and will do whatever it takes to do the best for each other,” he added.

“We will do our best against England, who are naturally one of the great teams in the world. To play against England and get a result will not be easy but we give it our best and wait to see what happens.”

Montenegro are currently sat at the top of Group G after victories over Wales, Bulgaria and most recently Switzerland. The perfect start to their qualifying campaign has delighted Vucinic and he says confidence is high going into the match against second place England.

“We have a lot of confidence having done well to date,” Vucinic continued.

“There will be a diffiuclt period ahead, but as long as we continue to give 100 per cent, I am sure we will make our nation proud and give them satisfaction from a footballing perspective.”
