Spain coach Vicente del Bosque pleased with return to form of Fernando Torres in Liechtenstein stroll
Liverpool star bags a brace for la Furia Roja...
By Paul Madden
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque feels Fernando Torres' return to goalscoring form against Liechtenstein was important for the player and the team as he scored twice in a straightforward victory.
La Furia Roja's strike pairing of Torres and David Villa each found the target to secure a facile win, with the latter equalling the 44-goal international record of legendary striker Raul in a 4-0 scoreline.
Manchester City's David Silva scored the other goal, but it was the Liverpool striker Torres who was singled out for praise from his manager.
"He [Torres] had not scored during the World Cup so these two goals and the one he got the other day for Liverpool will strengthen his morale," Del Bosque told AS. "That is very good for him and very good for the team.
"They have proven that [complacency] won't happen. We picked a championship winning team and it has repeated it's efforts.
"The spirit of the veterans within the team will help to ensure this group does not deteriorate in any way, shape or form."
