Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente feels Spain need to forget the World Cup to progress
Athletic Bilbao forward Fernando Llorente states the importance for Spain to forget the World Cup now as they defend their Euro crown.
By Andrew McLean
Spain's first opponents are minnows Liechtenstein, in a group which shouldn't prove a problem for the reigning world and European champions.
"The important thing is to forget the world title and start again from scratch. There are new challenges and we must work hard," Llorente told the Spanish media.
In the meantime Spain will be hopeful that centre-back Carles Puyol will recover from injury and continue towards the hundred cap mark for his country.
"Puyol is a very important player and to get to 100 games is a significant number," said Llorente concerning his team-mate.
